Library Essentials: Borrow and Return

How to borrow an item:

• Use the Self Service machines in your home library to borrow books. Student cards issued from Aungier Street, Bolton Street or Grangegorman can also be used at Self Service machines at all 3 locations. 

1. Scan your TU Dublin student card and follow the instructions on the screen
2. Scan your books individually with the barcode page open and facing upwards
3. The machine will print a receipt of what you have borrowed with a return date. Alternatively, you can log into your My Library account to check the return date or to renew your loan. You will receive an automatic email if your books are overdue.

• You can also bring your books and student card to the library desk in any of our five campus libraries and a member of staff will issue them to your library account.

Note: You must have a current TU Dublin student or staff card before you can borrow.

Self Service Machine Locations:

• Aungier Street Library:   Near the library desk
• Blanchardstown Library: Near the library desk
• Bolton Street Library:     Near the library desk
• Grangegorman Library:  Ground Floor, 1^st Floor and 2^nd Floor
• Tallaght Library:             Near the library desk

Borrowing Entitlements:

*Please note: Lending of Music CDs in Park House, Grangegorman Library is restricted to Postgraduate Students and Staff. They are library use only for all other students. 

Fines for overdue items:

We do not charge fines for overdue items. However, you will be unable to borrow additional items if any items on your account are overdue. Renew online or return the overdue items to be able to continue to borrow. For more information on borrowing visit the Library website or contact your home Library. 

How to Return Library Material:

1. Leave your items in the book return box located just outside the Aungier Street, Blanchardstown, Bolton Street and Tallaght main library doors, and located in the main lobby in Park House library

OR

2. Return your books using the Self Service machines by selecting 'Check in' and following the instructions on the screen

OR

3. Bring the books to the library desk at your home library and a member of staff will check them in for you
