Library Essentials: Borrow and Return

How to borrow an item:

• Use the Self Service machines in any of the City Centre libraries to borrow books
• Scan your TU Dublin student card and follow the instructions on the screen
• Scan your books individually with the barcode page open and facing upwards
• The machine will print a receipt of what you have borrowed with a return date. Alternatively, you can log into your My Library account to check the return date or to renew your loan You will receive an automatic email if your books are overdue.

You can also bring your books and student card to the library desk and a member of staff will issue them to your library account.

Note: You must have a current TU Dublin student card before you can borrow.

Self Service Machine Locations:

• Aungier St. Library: Near the library desk
• Bolton St. Library: Near the library desk
• Grangegorman Library: Ground Floor, 1^st Floor and 2^nd Floor

Borrowing Entitlements:

Fines for overdue items:

We do not charge fines for overdue items. However, you will be unable to borrow additional items if any items on your account are overdue. Renew online or return the overdue items to be able to continue to borrow. For more information visit the Library website or contact your home library. 

How to Return Library Material:

1. Leave your items in the book return box located just outside Aungier St. and Bolton St. libraries and in the lobby in Park House library

OR

2. Return your books using the self service machines by swiping your TU Dublin card and following the instructions on the screen

OR

3. Bring the books to the library desk and a member of staff will check them in for you
