How to find a journal or e-journal

Databases will allow you to search across many journal titles. However, sometimes you may wish to see if the library has access to a particular journal title or you may have a reference to a particular journal article and you might want to view that article or other articles from the same journal.

There are two main ways to identify journals available through the library:

1. If you wish to see if we have electronic access to a journal, go to the library website and select "Search Resources" and then "Search Online Journals". When you get to the search page select the radio button for "Journals Only" and choose "Title equals" from the drop down menu.

Notice that the results give several options which each cover a different range of issues. Usually you will view the journal through one of the databases. You will have the option to view different issues of the journal or to search for a topic across all issues.

To get full access to the journal you will need to log in with your student ID number and your IS (email) password.

2. Some journals may only be available in physical (hardcopy) format and some will be available in both hardcopy and electronic format. To find out for certain if we have access to a journal in any format you need to go to the library catalogue. 

From the library homepage or the catalogue itself choose "Journal Title" from the drop down list.

In this example the results show one location for a print version and two options for electronic access.

Clicking on the title of the print version will give more details such as where the print version is located and what issues are available.
