How to search for drama resources from the TUDublin city library website

Journals and Databases

Journal

A journal is a publication which may be issued weekly, monthly or quarterly or bi-annually.   Also, the intended readership for a journal is the academic community.  The contributors to journal articles are specialists in their particular discipline.  Some journals are peer reviewed meaning that the articles are reviewed by an editorial board prior to publication.  When searching for a particular journal in the library take note of the volume and issue numbers of the particular issue you require.

You could begin  your search for journals via the TU Dublin city library home page.  You may link here to the TU Dublin city library home page.  From there you can make a selection depending on your search requirements.  For more detailed searching link here to the advanced library catalogue.

Database

A database is an organised store of data which describes a collection of particular items, for example a library catalogue.  A journals database describes the contents of articles within a collection of journals.  Each article is given a record.  Each record is composed of different fields, for example, author, title and journal title.  Some databases are full text.

How to search

Before you begin your search clarify if you need to do a topic search or are you searching for a specific text which you need to access for a particular assignment?  If you need to search for a specific book I recommend you do a title or author search as your search results will be more specific.  Link here. to the library advanced search where you can search either for a specific title, or peform a topic search.   Using the advanced search catalogue  enables you to combine keywords and narrow your search to a particular format for example e-books, or journals.
