Articles in this field may not have a methods or materials section, may not always have an abstract and can feel more like an essay in format and tone.  If you are publishing in this field, be sure to check the instructions for authors and review a recent issue of your target publication to ensure you comply with expected standards. 

Although there can be some flexibility in the structure of an article, you can expect to provide sufficient context and background to support your argument and provide references to cited material.  Below is a general layout.   Although articles have sections, they may not be labelled.
