Now you know what referencing is and why you got to do it lets give you some basic survival information about how to go about referencing a book, a journal article and a website, as the 3 most common forms of information quoted in your essays and other work.
Unfortunately like languages there are numerous different styles or forms of referencing being used….APA,MLA,MHRA,Chicago,Harvard and the list goes on. To further complicate things there is no common one in use across TUDublin. It is important that your individual lecturer tells you early on what style they expect you to use and explains it. If they don’t …ask and if necessary ASK AGAIN until they make it clear and you’re happy.
