Choose the right journal

It is important that researchers seek to have their articles published in the key journals in their fields.  These journals may be identified by visiting Web of Science and Journal Citation Reports.  DIT Library subscribes to both.  By compiling articles' cited references, JCR  measures research influence at the journal and category levels, and shows the relationship between citing and cited journals.

A key indicator is the Journal Impact Factor, which is the average number of times articles from a journal published in the last two years have been cited.  For example, a journal with a Journal Impact Factor of 4.25 means that, on average, an article published in that journal in the last two years received 4.25 citations.
